Mongoose Capture 2011 BMX Bike Review

The Mongoose Capture 2011 BMX bike is a rigid frame bike featuring alloy rims and generic steel pegs. The forks are hi-tensile steel and it has 3-piece Tubular Cromo cranks (170 mm). It’s a relatively lightweight design with your basic cable line braking system. The general consensus seems to be that the Mongoose Capture 2011 makes a great starter bike for younger kids who are learning the ropes of BMX and freestyle, but the design itself has proven to be a little weak for more experienced riders. Several problems have been noted with the strength of the front forks as well as the handle bars coming loose rather easily.

The pros for this bike are that it is set at an affordable price for the quality which isn’t bad. It makes a great learning bike for beginners, and is lightweight enough for younger riders to be able to easily learn some basic tricks and jumps. The gyro brake system that allows for full rotation of handlebars without tangling the brake cables is another great pro for beginners. The main cons of this BMX styled bike is mainly for more experienced riders. While it’s sturdy enough for kids, experienced or older riders may have a problem with the frame and the front fork’s strength- particularly when landing jumps. I’d recommend this bike for those aged 14 and under, but for older riders or those who have already mastered the basics your money would be best spent elsewhere.
