Designed for first time riders, the Mongoose Subject 2011 is a solid bike, but its weight may be too much for some riders to handle.

The Mongoose Subject 2011 is a great value for younger riders, with a 1-1/8" Ahead headset, rear Alloy U-brakes, and alloy wheels. The Subject 2011 even includes pegs, an unusual feature for any BMX bike. The Subject sports a solid construction with a Chromoly frame. The Alloy rims are 36H in the front and 48H in the back for extra strength and stability.

Since the Mongoose Subject 2011 is designed for younger riders, weight is a big consideration. It's an awkward tradeoff, since as riders get older the weight becomes less of an issue, but they could be outgrowing the bike by that time. That said, not all riders are going to find the Subject heavy, but it is something to be considered.

One other thing to consider is the slightly flashy appearance.
